During the mosquito season, insecticidal aerosols become a must-have in many homes and offices. The maintenance time of its efficacy is directly related to the use effect and safety, and is the focus of consumers' attention. The efficacy duration of insecticidal aerosols with different composition and dosage forms is significantly different.

Taking Bayer Bemiz quantitative mosquito control spray as an example, its core component is 3.9% tetrafluorothrin, which belongs to pyrethroid insecticides. Experimental data showed that in a simulated room of 10 square meters, the efficacy evaluation of 24 hours after spraying was class B (mortality rate was 95.15%). The spray uses ultrafine rice atomization technology, and the active ingredients can quickly diffuse and adsorb on the surface of space objects, forming a protective net that lasts 24 hours. In actual use, just spray the center of the room once, you can cover about 10 square meters of area, without closing doors and Windows, you can achieve long-term mosquito repellent.

The duration of other insecticidal aerosols varies depending on the dosage form. The aerosol diffuses rapidly with the help of propellant, and the main components can volatilize more than 90% within 24 hours under ventilation conditions. The active ingredients of the water emulsion adhere to the surface of the object and continue to release, and it takes 3-7 days to completely volatilize; Microcapsules adopt the slow-release technology, and the lasting period can reach 1-3 months. However, this kind of slow-release dosage form needs special attention to the use scenario, such as the selection of plant source insecticides in the activity area of infants and young children, and extend the ventilation time to 48 hours.

From a safety perspective, the effectiveness of insecticidal aerosols is closely related to ventilation conditions. Studies by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have shown that indoor residual spraying of pyrethroid insecticides, under conventional ventilation conditions, reduced the air concentration by 60% after 6 hours of application and to 10% of the initial concentration after 24 hours. This means that even if the effect lasts for 24 hours, its potential impact on human health is significantly reduced over time. However, special groups still need to use caution, such as infants, pregnant women, etc., should avoid direct contact, and maintain adequate ventilation after application.

It is worth noting that modern testing technology shows that even pesticides claimed to be "safe and non-toxic" can still detect trace residues in corners and crannies seven days after application. Therefore, when using insecticidal aerosol, it is necessary to strictly follow the product instructions to avoid excessive application. At the same time, if you find an abnormal physical reaction, you should seek medical attention immediately and carry the packaging instructions of the medicine.
